Resource Organization

The Section started to operate in 1992 after receiving some financial support as seed money from The Global Fund for Women, California. Within eight year, the Section collected a good stock of more than 5000 documents from various sources (both national and international), most of the literature, information and other resources on women and  its related fields like education, health, employment, environment, human rights, trafficking, prostitution, rape, violence, discrimination, AIDS/HIV, development policy and planning, movements, feminism etc.

It also held varied materials like books, monographs, documents, journals, reports proceedings, case studies, government documents, UN documents booklets, pamphlets, posters, photos, audio-visual cassettes, newspaper clippings, etc.

ASMITA also functions as  a resource organization on women studies. Therefore, it has set up a separate section for the documentation of information. Asmita's Information & Documentation Section has a huge collection of publication on women studies.

On the one hand, the Information Documentation Section has been, in fact, enhancing the personal capacity of ASMITA staffs and making its publications and productions more strong, bold and competitive. In a sense, it has proved to be one of the supporting pillars of Asmita magazine and organization itself because the systematic documentation of information provides a good chance of learning exact situation and gaining knowledge about the issues at any time. On the other side the Section has been more fruitful for the interested individual who likes to be familiar with women and women related issues.

Generally, the Section develops collection of all types of books and non-books. Moreover, the organization is maintaining network with more than 1,000 national and international issues. ASMITA should be more strong and sustainable to extend and expand the service of this systematic way and according to the rules of the organization.
