Media Monitoring

ASMITA has regularly been doing critical analysis of the presentation of women in the mainstream media of the country offering alternatives on how women should be presented. Asmita Monthly used to publish articles derived from the media monitoring under its regular column 'Media Watch'. Later, the articles of the column have been published in a book form 'Women' Presented by the Media’. Similarly, ASMITA, on behalf of Nepal, participated in Global Media

Monitoring Project, 1995 coordinated by National Watch on Images of Women in the Media (Media Watch), Canada. ASMITA had also contributed for another research project entitled, Media and Gender Policy in the Global Age: How Asian Women Speak Out in the Mainstream and Alternative Television. Television programs and media policies from thirteen countries were monitored.
